For forty-nine years, the San Antonio Queen of Soul’s pageant training program has strived to further the educational goals of young, African-American women in the San Antonio area. During the organization’s illustrious history, there have been forty-seven young ladies that have held the distinguished title of “Miss Queen of Soul.” The scholarships provided to the Queen and her Court helps them further their educational pursuits and career goals.
The objectives of the organization are simple: finding that unique young lady who embodies the poise, self-esteem and academic excellence to wear the crown of “Miss Queen of Soul.” This young lady will attend official Fiesta functions as well as numerous civic activities. Our Queen and her Court not only represent themselves and their families, they will also represent their church, school and the entire African-American community in the many Fiesta events throughout the city.
The 50th Annual Queen of Soul Pageant will be held at the Carver Community Cultural Center
For those who decide to participate in the pageant, we guarantee it will be a life-changing experience. During the weeks leading up to the reception and pageant, our contestants will get acquainted with other participants, celebrate the importance of sisterhood, form new friendships and take part in events that will prepare them for their chosen career path.
Now, as we turn another page in the chapter of the organization’s history, we will strive to continue the legacy of those members who have come before us. It is with tremendous gratitude that we honor all of our previous contestants and our many long-time supporters who have made our pageant a success. Our desire and passion is to make every attempt to uphold the name and reputation of San Antonio Queen of Soul, Inc. and continue to contribute to the rich cultural landscape of the city.
